What??? The Elantra GT? I really liked that hatchback.....

Enthusiasts gotta walk the talk

I genuinely did not know Mercedes still sold an SLK (well, I guess they don’t anymore....) . What a world.

Enthusiasts would buy an Elantra if they sold it in “N” form. Instead we’re offered the compromised Veloster N and a half-baked Elantra GT “N-line.” We then buy VW GTIs instead.

To be honest, I thought the Regal had already been cut.

I’m confused ...you said “Elantra GT/N-line”
The ‘Elantra GT’ is just the normal Elantra in hatchback form with different bodywork and the ‘N-Line’ is the suped up model of that. Do you mean they are cancelling the Elantra GT hatch completely, or ONLY in N-Line form...?
I took it as in no more Elantra GT hatch whatsoever...?

If I had the money to buy a hatch, I would still
buy the GT, even in non N-Line form
over the GTI. The GTI is arguably more capable, but I worry about repair costs when something goes wrong because VW....plus, slow car fast!

Elantra GT hatch the the N-line version of the said hatch.

Maybe they are coming out with a new one for the new Elantra?

Still confused...so they are only ending the N-Line variant?

Many of these nobody is gonna miss. And I’m surprised the i8 was STILL in production.
I’m gonna miss the Elantra GT and Fit.
As for the Civic coupe... I’m not gonna miss that either. As long as they keep making the Civic hatch, I’m happy.
For the Lincoln Continental, I hope it eventually comes back as a new RWD/AWD vehicle based on the Mach E.
For Dodge... so they’re cancelling the Journey and Grand Caravan. I hope Dodge is getting some new product. They were supposed to get a RWD-based sporty CUV.
But upper management insisted on spending $$$$$$$ on Alfa Romeo and Maserati, which caused a lack of funds for other things like getting new product for Dodge and Chrysler. I hope that changes.

The hatch is dead. In normal and N-line version.
The sedan continues. In normal and N-line version.
Sometimes the manufacturer chooses to keep only the performance version of a vehicle for the enthusiasts. This is not the case now for the Elantra hatch.

The TourX was cut before the sedan and it was inevitable anyway.

They just killed off the Accent too, at least here in Canada, so no new Accent after next year....
Which really makes me sad, and a bit angry. So, for people looking for cheaper new small car from Hyundai, their only option is the Venue crossover, which is ACCENT-BASED. Now, I don’t like crossovers, but I think the Venue is OK...that being said, I’d still rather have the Accent hatch...
So if you’re going for the Venue over the now-non-existant-after-this-year Accent hatch....you’re paying $2-3K more for the Venue than you did
for the Accent hatch, for a car BASED on the Accent that will have LESS performance (because it’s just Accent running gear with more weight), that gets LESS fuel economy.....
Like......WHY? Where is the logic?

It'll be back. New Elantra is coming out so I'm guessing the hatch will follow.

Actaully the Elantra GT is a different chassis underneath compared to the sedan and is actually the Euro Hyundai I30

I quite like the styling of the new Elantra, but I hate the interior because they did the same ‘slab of stupid touchscreen across the dash’ thing that everybody is doing these days....

The Elantra GT is an old car. The European i30 it’s based on is gearing up for a replacement. Wouldn’t be surprised if it comes back for 2022.

I did know it’s just a rebadged Euro i30, but I did forget it was a different floorpan, thanks for reminding me!

Pretty much, and I hate it. Cars are losing what makes them cars....they’re slowly all just going to become generic-looking crossover blobs at this rate...
